“We are not taking your jobs” – African  Immigrants fume at South Africans!

In the wake of a protest to hold in Pretoria, South Africa later this month, immigrants from other parts of Africa have asserted that they don’t take jobs that belong to South Africans.

The peaceful protest slated to hold in Pretoria February 24 is tagged: “March against illegal immigrants, companies only employ Zimbabweans and other foreign nationals, where must South Africans work?”.

Many foreigners have reacted to this planned protest voicing vigorously that it is a lie that other Africans who live in South Africa are preferred over South Africans in the labour market.

The President of a West African country association who prefers to be anonymous argues that Black South Africans like to transfer the aggression of their woes to their African brothers and sisters.

He stresses further: “There are many white foreigners who are working in South Africa. I have never heard my brothers and sisters from South Africa protest about that. There are still many companies in South Africa who employ White people even when there are qualified Black South Africans”.

Abdul Diara, from Ivory Coast says most foreigners who live in South Africa are self-employed. “Majority of us have created jobs and have employed many South Africans. It is extremely hard to get a job in South Africa as an African”.

Research revealed that many African immigrants are not happy with South Africans but are only tolerating them.

It is shocking to know that African immigrants are below 2% of the mainstream South African labour market.

Nigeriansinsouthafrica.co.za called a member of the group leading the planned protest but our request to hear their side of the story prove abortive as at press time.
