Foreigners Complaim of VFS poor immigration services in South Africa.

There have been complaints about certain poor services rendered by Vfs South Africa.

Vfs which offers outsourcing and technological solutions to governments and diplomatic mission worldwide works with the South African department of Home Affairs.

Clients complain that the Vfs site is malnourished of important and critical information.

Recently, a Nigerian reported that he could not submit his Permanent Residence application because he was told at the Vfs office in Rivonia that his visa should be valid for one year for him to apply for permanent residence.

The young Nigerian media practitioner said there is no information on the Vfs website stating the one-year prerequisite.

He said alarmingly: “They just take people for granted. They change laws without informing people or putting relevant information on the site”.

He claimed to have wasted time to prepare documents only to be sent back home.

Immigrants living in South Africa also pray that the Home Affairs and Vfs will work together to devise easy ways for foreigners residing in South Africa to obtain a business permit.

They claim there is no form on the Vfs website that accommodates immigrants who are staying in South Africa to apply for a business permit.

Applicants have to use online form meant for people who live outside South Africa.

Ironically though, a lot of immigrants commend the friendly and stress less services they receive from Vfs, compared to the harrowing stress they used to go through before the Home Affairs outsourced some of its services to Vfs.

A Congolese also lent her voice on the issue: “It is frustrating you have to wait for 8 months at to get a response about Permanent Residence. We don’t know what taking their time. Maybe Vfs does not deliver on time or it’s Home Affair’s usual snail pace”.
