The Free State Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation is immensely proud of the massive extravaganza that the MACUFE Festival has become over the years. We are delighted of this event for the reason that MACUFE Festival serves as an important platform to showcase our Province to the rest of the world. Moreover, we are also excited that our festival fanatics in the province are going to be presented with yet another brilliant festival as usual.

Indeed this event has successfully managed to add flair to the weeklong annual MACUFE festivities.

One of the mandates we derive from the National Development Plan (NDP) as the Department relates to using sport and recreation to promote social cohesion. It is no wonder therefore; that the Department continues to consistently support initiatives such as schools sport and developmental programmes to nurture young talent. Such initiatives provide Free State youngsters an opportunity to showcase the excellent talent that they have and to hone their skills.

As we continue to reconstruct our society from many social ills that still confront us to date, we are reminded that the goals and aspirations we have for South Africa as set out in the Freedom Charter and the NDP can only be realized if the people are truly united in their diversity and that sport is a vehicle to deliver social cohesion and nation building.

It been mentioned that the Nigeria music icon davido will featured in this year celebration

The Department continues to partner with other strategic partners and we invest our time and resources to ensure the ongoing success of MACUFE believing that together we can take the Free State Province forward.

The MACUFE FESTIVAL is an annual event that we pride ourselves with as the Free State Province and it continues to occupy a special place on our sporting calendar.

Thank you all for supporting the 2017 MACUFE FESTVAL!
