NEL-PETERS DEDICATES MISS UNIVERSE WIN TO SOUTH AFRICA

CAPE TOWN – Miss South Africa Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters says that she’s humbled and proud to be crowned Miss Universe.

The announcement was made early on Monday morning at a star-studded ceremony in Las Vegas.

The 22-year-old from Sedgefield in the Western Cape is the second South African to ever win the crown after Margaret Gardiner in 1978.

Nel-peters has dedicated her award to South Africa.

“[South] Africa, I love you. Thank you for everything. I am Miss Universe and this is for you.”
