THE NIGERIA AMBASSADOR TO SOUTH AFRICA AND THE CONSULAR GENERAL DELIVERED KEYNOTE ADDRESS AT THE ASSOCIATION OF YORUBA IN DIASPORA AYIDSA 2017 HERITAGE DAY

Association of the Yorubas in Diaspora ( AYIDSA) held its 2nd heritage week 2017 and the end of the year party in Pretoria on the 16th December 2017. There were series of events such as a Business forum, children party, and National Dialogue. Prof Ehimario Igumbor of America center for disease control spoke on Mushrooming of University in Nigeria. Prof Akin Bamigboye spoke on the medical tourism while Prof Sunday Ojo spoke on Stem.

This occasion was the first event to be graced by the Nigeria high commissioner to South Africa since his assumption in the office. Ambassador (Dr) Musa Ibeto was entourage included Minister in charge of Education and culture at the high commission, Mr. Idi, Permanent secretary minister Agriculture, Niger state and a Director In Niger state Government of Nigeria. In a rare occasion, the Consul General, Consulate General of Nigeria, Johannesburg, Godwin Adama also attended the occasion. Consul General entourage includes minister in charge of immigration and consular services at the consulate Mr. Ogbe. His Excellency Ambassador Ibeto during his keynote address encouraged Nigerians in South Africa to be law abiding in South Africa.

He retaliates zero tolerant stance of president Buhari on corruption. His excellency Godwin Adama in the same line charge Nigerians in South Africa to be good ambassadors of Nigeria. The new dawn has come to Nigeria missions in South Africa. Eminent Yoruba personalities across South Africa provinces grace the occasion. The chairman of AYIDSA hall of paladins was the chairman of the occasion. The high commissioner has tasked AYIDSA vice-president Dr. Sola Agbeniyi who was the head of AYIDSA national executive council at the event to lead four named senior Yoruba citizens to him before the end of January for some discussion over certain issues regarding Yoruba associations in South Africa.

In his votes of thank, Dr. Sola Agbeniyi appreciated the presence both the High commissioner and the Consul General at the event. He promised that AYIDSA shall continue to be a partner in progress with all the missions. He encouraged the two envoys to continue their good jobs in advancing good lives for Nigerians in South Africa primarily and to foster the good relationship between Nigeria and South Africa.
