MEC KAUNDA WARNS MOTORISTS TO BE EXTRA VIGILANT WHEN PASSING OVERHEAD BRIDGES

The MEC for Transport, Community, and Liaison, Mr. Mxolisi Kaunda, has warned motorists to
be extra vigilant when driving past overhead bridges on the roads.

This warning comes after the unfortunate and criminal act of rock dropping by nefarious persons
that led to the death of two children aged between 15 and 7 years on Tongaat Bridge, who were
traveling with their father.  It is alleged that the driver was passing under the bridge when a big
stone was thrown on his car, which resulted in the death of two children.

The father was taken to the nearest hospital for further medical attention.  A case of murder was
opened pending further investigation.

Kaunda has warned motorists to be extra careful when traveling.

“We want to condemn the barbaric act that has resulted to the death of these innocent lives.
This kind of behavior will not be tolerated at all.  We cannot afford to lose lives on the road
because of people who are ruthless and nefarious.  I want to appeal to all those who might have
information on this incident to come forward and assist the police.  On behalf of the government,
we would like to send our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased,” said Kaunda.
