NORTHERN NIGERIA RAISES SAFETY CONCERNS FOLLOWING LATEST SUICIDE BOMBING

ABUJA – Emergency officials in Borno state, north East Nigeria say they have summoned all their desk officers to a critical meeting to assess the safety concerns in Borno following the increase in suicide bomb attacks in the state.

On Wednesday, 11 people were killed when a suicide bomber attacked a mosque at Gamboru town in the Gamboru-Ngala local government area of Borno state.

Eyewitnesses say that the father of the bomber was among the dead.

The death toll from the latest bombing in Borno is expected to rise as suspected Boko Haram terrorists set up their campaign on innocent civilians.

Bahir Garga, the north-east coordinator of the Nigeria emergency management agency, said that the bomber had targeted early morning worshipers.

The Borno state government has also reviewed the curfew in the state, to increase surveillance from recent bombings.
