JOHANNESBURG RECYCLING INITIATIVE BEGINS

It is now compulsory for people living in the South African city of Johannesburg to separate their household waste for recycling.

Authorities hope it will stop existing landfill sites from filling up too quickly, as they lack the resources to expand them.

Al Jazeera’s Haru Mutasa reports from Johannesburg.
