BIAFRAN CULTURAL FESTIVAL “PORT HARCOURT 2018”

It is a festival of arts, culture, and life. A kaleidoscope of colors and a display of solidarity by the different tribes that constitute the Nation of Biafra in today’s Nigeria.

This august event is organized under the auspices of the Indigenous People of Biafra “IPOB” Port Harcourt branch in Rivers State, Nigeria.

It is a seminal initiative aimed at reviving and revitalizing the unique cultures of a diverse people who are united under one nation and one destiny; equal stakeholders in the same commonwealth known as Biafra.

This comes at a time when the determination to survive as a people within a hostile geographical area currently known as Nigeria, has been energized by the continuous policies of deprivation and the impoverishment against the very owners of the petroleum that counts for about 80 percent of the annual GDP of Nigeria.

The burning desire to rekindle their identities and to uphold the same has never been stronger, these are people endowed in abundance of both human and natural resources.

The exuberance amongst the Biafran youths is razor sharp and very contagious, so much so that the senior citizens too are rejuvenated by the energy in the air, and the confidence the youths exude.

A people whose latent talents have systematically been suppressed by the policies of different administration since the forceful amalgamation of the Southern and Northern Protectorates by Britain in 1914.

It was indeed a marriage of convenience that has not only produced disaster after disaster, but has remained barren since their unholy union; which union was put together without proper consultation with, and the consent of the families of both the bride and the groom. It was shoved down the throats of “the Southern lady of means”, that is the nation of Biafra.

There comes a time in a marital relationship when the parties no longer can tolerate each other, no longer have affection for each other, and the irretrievability of the marriage very evident to third parties. A decree of divorce seems to be the only solution, in order to put an end to their miseries.

The IPOB is the body in the frontline of the agitation to secede, it has huge and unprecedented followers that span from the nation of Biafra to the entire globe. It has indeed hit a home run.

The light in the tunnel is now very glaring, a glimmer of hope and assurance that one day very soon, the people of Biafra shall be free. The Red sea shall give way for the Biafran people to cross over.

The festival shall celebrate varieties of foods and drinks such as Palm Wine, locally made spirits and beer. Embellished with Artistic exhibitions, and masquerades such as Ekpe, Iga and Ijele; good cultural music and vibrant dancers such as acrobatic dancers, war dancers from Abriba, Ada mma Ngwo, the beautiful damsels from Efik in their colorful costumes, and drummers performing with their talking drums. It surely would be a delightful experience; I can’t wait.

People would be treated to and shall enjoy more goodies from the many tribes in the nation of Biafra such as the Ijaw, Efik, Isoko, Ibibio, kalabari, Itsekiri, Urhobo, Igbo, Igala, Igede, Idoma, Annan, Izion, Calabar, Ogoni, amongst others.

If you are single, kindly be prepared to get hitched by the beautiful boys and girls of Biafra; our people are indeed a beauty to behold.

It is said that the only way to predict the future is to plan for it, you are therefore advised to start now to plan for your wedding, for you will surely fall in love with them. And you shall live to tell people about your love stories come next year’s event.

Should you already have been married, kindly come with your family and friends, to meet and make new family friends on that day. Biafra people are inherently pleasant and warm by nature. Let us make the circle of family and friends bigger next year, because as the saying goes, the more the merrier

This shall be an annual festival which shall metamorphosis into a carnival of global repute, similar to the Rio Carnival.

The colorful culture of the Biafrans, if properly harnessed is capable of generating an annual income of about 5 billion United States Dollars. This is, in fact, a modest estimate of the possible income it is capable of raking in annually if well managed.

We are all invited to celebrate humanity together as one big and happy family.

Come merry with us.

I thank you.
