BUSHIRI’S NIGERIAN DEAD MAN WON’T RISE

An angry Nigerian family told Daily Sun they believe the body of their son, Danjuma Ayiku (41), was kept away from them while his girlfriend tried to bring him back to life.

They said the girlfriend, Thelma Hanyane, was being assisted by pastors from prophet Shepherd Bushiri’s church.

Nigeriansinsouthafrica.co.za spoke to a strong member of Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) this morning; he denied the church’s involvement in the matter.

In his words, “every church member has the right to take a step of faith and such steps don’t require the approval of the church. Pastors may even help in such times because that is part of their work”.

A pastor in Randburg affirmed that there is nothing wrong in attempts to raise the dead. “It is one of the core works of the gospel. No-one should be demonized for attempting that but it must be done scripturally and with the leading of the Holy Spirit”.

Inga Ayiku, Danjuma’s sister, said they heard people had been going to the mortuary to rub oil on her brother’s body.“The resurrection was supposed to happen on Sunday,” she said.
Danjuma had been in the country for 16 years until his death on 31 August. He had been dating Thelma since June and they were living in Tshwane.

“Thelma phoned my father to tell him Danjuma had died but she refused to allow anyone to identify him until Monday,” said Inga.

Danjuma was identified by officials from the Nigerian Union in SA. “We were told his corpse was swollen and smelly. He had blood in his nose and bruises on his neck,” Inga said.

She said Thelma told the Nigerian Union SA she would be burying Danjuma tomorrow.

Inga said: “We are preparing to collect his body. Who does she think she is to make funeral arrangements?”

Thelma said her church believed in resurrection, although they had never tried to do it.

“Danjuma’s father said they didn’t have money so I decided to bury him because I loved him,” she said.

“The body was decomposing because the fridges at the mortuary were faulty.”

Attempts to get hold of Bushiri were unsuccessful.

Pretoria West Hospital dismissed claims that the mortuary refrigerator was faulty.

The Daily Sun report trends virally as at the time of this report.

ECG website says: “Enlightened Christian Gathering Church (ECG) is a modern congregation of Christ-centered believers celebrating God through the Prophetic, Healing and Deliverance Ministries. It is a home to millions across the globe who seek to hear God speaking today. ECG is led by founder and General Overseer Prophet Shepherd Bushiri (Major One).

Through Deliverance, Healing, Miracles, Wonders and Teaching the deep things of God, the ministry at ECG is definitely responding to the world to set the captives free from the oppression and the bondage of the devil.

ECG is more than a church, it is a family, where every race and class is accommodated, where the DNA of God declares each of us as citizens of heaven, lives are transformed and miracles and testimonies are the order of the day as demons and challenges are confronted and conquered; in our family we don’t stress!”
