LAGOS THURSDAYS

The Fast and Furious has nothing on the acrobatic music village of Afrobeat when it comes to action!

The city of Lagos despises sluggishness, and so does the music that comes with Femi Koya’s Afrobeat band. The nine-piece outfit is so hot you can’t touch them, but you can feel them!

Lagos Thursdays brings you the music of Femi Koya – Nigerian saxophonist and singer based in Johannesburg. Femi sees himself as part of a new Africa on the move; where home is not just one place but a multiplicity of places and influences.

Femi has performed and worked with Baba Maal, Angelique Kidjo, Yvonne ChakaChaka, Sipho Mabuse, and Simphiwe Dana among others. He has also shared a stage with Salif Keita, King Sunny Ade ,Youssou N’dou, Sibongile Khumalo, and Habib Keita.

Join Femi Koya’s Afrobeat band on Thursday, 16 November 2017 at The Orbit as they dish out fresh music from his new album Village Afrobeat. The album will be launched in March.

Femi Koya – tenor sax
Felix Arimoro – flugelhorn
Peter Shishe – trumpet
Peter Daniyan – trombone

Maxwell Baloyi – keys and piano
Gali Ngoveni – bass
Karo Ndoite – guitar
Seun Adebari – drums
Segun Oyedele – talking drums

R 130 per ticket (students come in at half price, just bring your student card). Come and have dinner and drinks while enjoying sensational sounds.
