“Femi Kuti: 2Face planned Protest is Dodgy” Nigerians in SA laud cancellation.

2Face Idibia, award wining Nigerian songster bows to pressure and has cancelled the much publicised protest slated for today.

The popular African singer has mobilised many Nigerians toward a peaceful protest today to ventillate their grievances on the poor state of the nation.

Nigeriansinsouthafrica.co.za reported last week: Was 2Face Paid To Protest?

Femi Kuti, popular Nigerian maestro hinted that the protest lacked credibility as 2Face himself acknowledged that “some people asked him to broadcast it”.

In pidgin English, according to Pulse, Femi says “2Face say some people come meet am make him broadcast am, so no be him sit down for him house come plan am, i for no vex”.

Though 2Face said the protest has been cancelled for security and safety reasons but many believe the protest was dodgy from the start and that it was cancelled because it lacked credibility.

Many are asking why the “African Queen” crooner cancelled the protest a day after Laolu Akande, a senior special assistant (media) in the presidency okayed the protest.

The senior special assistant disclosed: “This administration will not prevent Nigerians from expressing themselves in peaceful protest”.

Angrily, a Nigerian student at the University of South Africa busted out: “If the government did not stop the protest and they apply for security support, why will they cancel it? They are a bunch of confused thieves who want to protest because they were paid by armed thieves to protest against the thieves in power”.

Also, Blackface put a hole in the planned protest fabric asking 2Face: “Why did you not protest against Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s (GEJ) looting of 51 trillion Naira and the Godswill Akpabio alleged looting of over 1 trillion Naira from the Akwa Ibom state treasury for which he is being prosecuted by the EFCC?”.

Bovi Ugboma, Funke Adesiyan and Stella Damasus had indicated they won’t join the protest even it was held.

Words on the street amongst Nigerians in South Africa is that the protest was politically spurred and they are happy that it has been cancelled.

Top Nigerian opinion moulder in South Africa who lives in Sandton, Johannesburg said” We know when something is fair and credible. This one was, the hand of a politician, but the voice of 2Face”.
