CASSPER NYOVEST INVADES BIGGEST VENUE IN SOWETO

In celebration of Africa Month GOG Gardens Soweto will host the biggest outdoor music festival on the 25 May. It will be a melting pot of different music genres celebrating the diversity of South Africa music and dance. Headlining the Africa Day Invasion three incredible but diverse acts. First is the biggest hip hop kwaito artist in South Africa, Cassper Nyovest, who brings a blend of what the future of South African hip hop music looks like with a hint of the distinct township kwaito cultural vibe that is reminiscent of where we are coming from. Sharing the stage with him will be KhuzaniMpungose who is a phenomenal Mas’kandi musical singer.

His reputation is second to none in this genre and has built up an incredible reputation of bringing Mas’kandi mainstream. Samkelo Lelethu Mdolomba, also known as Samthing Soweto, is a musician from Soweto. His genre sound has been described as “Pantsula” culture meets New Wave World at Amsterdam’s Paradiso and then proceeds to dingy Soweto or Bulawayo shebeens like the South African sounds of Marabi, Isqathamiya, Imbube, American doo-wop or the early Trenchtown Wailers. Supported by an incredible lineup of up and coming artists and stellar local DJs, this Africa Day Invasion of Soweto will serve to celebrate everything South African with music, food and our cultural diversity at the forefront. Gates open at 10 am till late and with special entry fees for students.

GOG Gardens Soweto is a multi-purpose entertainment, conferencing and outdoor playground. Among the many attractions at the park, there are water slides, pools, kiddies playground, a spray parks, picnic areas, conferencing facilities, market venues, accommodation, and the concert/music facilities.
