The event start with opening prayer by Pastor Direko.

The second entertainer for the South African Men of the Year 2017 awards is Neyi Zimu.

He is a gospel artist who has had a long and successful career, he started of as a member in Joyous Celebration until he released his own solo Gospel album ‘Excited’ in 2001. He has shared the stage with many musicians such as Benjamin Dube and Rebecca Malope.

Not only is Neyi Zimu a gospel singer but he is also a pastor and founder of the All Nations Revival Ministries in Midrand.

On to the entertainment of the 2017 South African Men of the Year Awards Ceremony.

The first entertainer is Ditsebe.com not only is he a comedian but he also works as an MC, voiceover artist, inspirational speaker and an entrepreneur.

The first legend honoured at the South African Men of the Year Awards 2017 is Dr. Donato Mattera.

He is an author, poet, musician, motivational speaker and community activist.
He was awarded the Steve Biko Prize for his acclaimed autobiography Memory is the Weapon in 1987. He worked as a journalist on The Sunday Times, Mail & Guardian and The Sowetan.
He has also been deeply involved in helping young people, re-habilitation of ex prisoners and working in his community over the years.

The second legend honoured at the South African Men of the Year Awards 2017, is Uncle Angus Buchan.

He is a Christian leader, Evangelist and author. In 1980 he started Shalom Ministries with his wife Jill Buchan. He then went on to write his famous book “Faith like Potatoes: The Story of a Farmer Who Risked Everything for God based on his life, which has been an inspiration to many.

Today, Uncle Angus Buchan’s Mighty Men conferences continue to attract thousands of men from all walks of life each year.

The third legend hounored at the South African Men of the Year Awards 2017 is Dr. SD Gumbi from Standerton in Mpumalanga.

He is a highly acclaimed Pentecostalist, evangelist and motivational speaker. Dr. SD Gumbi is one of the founders as well as as executive members of the Assemblies Of God. He is also started a gospel group, the S.O.S choir which their first album went platinum.

His worship and preaching a have changed many people’s lives. Dr. SD Gumbi also hosts “Spiritual Feast” which is aimed at celebrating the Life and Ministry.

The fourth honoured legend of the 2017 South African Men of the Year ceremony is Dr Ali Bacher.

Dr. Ali Bacher is a former famous South African Cricketer and an administrator of the United Cricket Board of South Africa. Furthermore, he also graduated from University of Witwatersrand medical school in 1967.

He has had a successful career in cricket administration which resulted in the hosting of the 2003 World Cup in South Africa. He has spent more than 30 years being involved in the business and promotion of not only cricket but sport in South Africa .
