The Real Makoya! “Femi Koya” brought fresh Afro-beat flavors from Nigeria straight to Newtown in Johannesburg.

Femi Koya’s debut appearance at the Fête de la Musique was an evening to remember, said one of the fans who braved the winter cold to enjoy the sounds from Femi Koya’s band. He gave the fans an unforgettable night as no dull moment with Femi Koya’s energy.

Femi Koya, the headline act at the Fête de la Musique is the new face of the African Renaissance, combining West African highlife and Jazz, South African Sofiatown with a nostalgic Afrobeat root sounds, his music is a rich blend of deep and sultry Afrobeat and a contemporary groove.

Fete de la Musique was sponsored by The Alliance Française, IFAS-Culture, Total South Africa, The Market Theatre Foundation, The Newtown Junction, and Bassline.

Catch Femi Koya at the 21st Anniversary Of The Standard Bank Joy Of Jazz in September where he will perform with a South African jazz ensemble that will include Oliver Mtukudzi, Amina Figarova, The Horn Summit and many more.
