IKOJOPO OMOLUABI AT THE SIZZLINGS EATERY IN PRETORIA

Akojopo omoluabi is a mentorship program designed by the leadership of AYIDSA. It aims at guiding Yoruba youngster in South Africa about how to live decent lives. Shenanigans behaviors are common among few of us in South Africa. This program designed to advise the youth on how to be good ambassadors of Nigeria and Yoruba extraction specifically by listening to the people who have passed through the South Africa system and has achieved in their different fields of chosen professions and in family lives.

It is an interactive session with questions and answers among the participants. All the AYIDSA structures are participants. All the districts, forum members, hall of paladin and Executive members. All theses AYIDSA structure are participants. There is a Yoruba musician always in attendance to give melodies. The platform also created an avenue for business connection and social engagements.

The maiden edition was held on the 3rd March 2018 with Prof Akin Bamigboye as the guest. The recent edition was a big success as many people benefited from the wealth of Prof & Mrs. Bamigboye experiences. Questions were thrown at him and they were all addressed to the satisfaction of all in attendance. The next edition shall host Prof Diran Makinde of NEPAD as the guest in May 2018.

It was a beautiful evening, said Yemite. Why Southern Africa? while your mates were relocating to Europe and America.  Prof. Bamigboye answered, my basic salary then in Nigeria was 350 naira while my peers in America were getting 700 naira equivalent. He saw the job opportunity in Botswana being the richest country in Africa and they were willing to pay double of what American hospitals were offering doctors which were four times what he was earning in Nigeria in 1989.

The session was brief and engaging. Yemite crew entertained the guests with their juju flavored tunes and the guests couldn’t have enough of the experience at the Sizzling Eatery.
