PASTOR TIM OMOTOSO CASE WHISTLEBLOWER SHOT AT

A whistleblower in the case against controversial Nigerian Pastor, Timothy Omotoso, has been involved in a shooting incident in KwaZakhele in Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape.

Police Spokesperson Andre Beegte says an unknown suspect allegedly went to the house of the whistleblower and fired two shots. Nobody was hit.

“An unknown male wearing a mask branding a fire-arm jumped over the fence in Kwazakhele.

A lady who was a complainant in the case was threatened by this man that she should withdraw – and fired two shots at her – but luckily they missed her and he ran away. An attempted murder case was opened,” Beegte elaborates.

Meanwhile, the case of Omotoso, has been transferred to the Port Elizabeth High Court for pre-trial on August the second.

State prosecutor Nceba Ntelwa says the Director of Public Prosecutions has centralised Omotoso’s charges and forwarded the correspondence to court.

Omotoso and two of his co-accused appeared briefly in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court.

He faces 63 charges including rape and human trafficking against some of his congregants.

The illegal immigration and fraud charges against him have been provisionally withdrawn, pending the outcome of the trial.

Charges against one of the accused have been withdrawn in absentia, with the state saying her involvement in the case is not yet clear.
