Super Eagles vs Bafana Bafana – our predictions

Super Eagles vs Bafana Bafana – our predictions

Nigeria and South Africa will battle for early ascendancy in Group E of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers when they meet in Uyo on Saturday, June 10.

The match is set for the Akwa Ibom Stadium, with kick-off at 6 pm CAT.

Neither the Super Eagles nor Bafana Bafana qualified for the last Afcon in Gabon earlier this year, meaning a place in the 2019 finals is a major priority for both – at least until the 2018 World Cup qualifiers resume.

The last time Bafana beat Nigeria (2-1 at Soccer City) was with Baxter’s team in November 2004. South Africa should be confident of doing the same when Nigeria comes home in October 2018. On Saturday both teams should be happy with a draw in Uyo.

While Nigeria had German coach Gernot Rohr in charge of their team for the better part of a year, South Africa will see this match as the start of a new era under Stuart Baxter.

Isaac Mangena, Bongani Yende, Mxolisi Miya, Mhlengi Mzelemu, Wale Kehinde, Chidi Francis, Abdulrasaq Awofeso argue the toss here for who will win, and why.

Why Nigeria will win  (Isaac Mangena)
I’d give it 2-1 in favor of Nigeria. The super eagles have been a traditional hoodoo team for BafanaBafana from those days of sharpshooter Samson Siasia until now. Bafana Bafana is also still building, well both team, but history is on the side of Nigeria.
Score Prediction: Nigeria 2 South Africa 1

Why Nigeria will win (Bongani Yende)
I think Nigeria will win this game because they are a better team according to statistics. They play better football, their formation is on point and they are always forward to it better than Bafana Bafana.
Score Prediction: Nigeria 2 South Africa 0

Why Bafana will win ( Mxolisi Miya )
I think it’s going to be a draw but I don’t see Nigeria winning this game. It’s either 1-O against Nigeria supporting my statement is because Bafana Bafana has been playing good football. The last time Nigeria played good football was under Stephen Keshi, they all over the place and they need to work on their squad. We have just got a new coach and he wants to prove himself. Baxter knows South Africa’s football and he will deliver. Nigeria did play good football but now.
Score Prediction: Nigeria 0 South Africa 1

Why it will be a draw ( Mhlengi Mzelemu )
It will be a draw because Bafana are good travelers, they play very well on the road although Nigeria will also want to win this crucial game. South Africa also have a good coach so all the players will try to prove that they deserve to be in the starting eleven.
Score Prediction: Nigeria 1 South Africa 1

Why Nigeria will win (Chidi Francis)
We are better than them and we have a home advantage
Score Prediction: Nigeria 3 South Africa 0

Why Nigeria will win (Abdulrasaq Awofeso)
We have a better team based on my view.
Score Prediction: Nigeria 2 South Africa 1

Why Nigeria will win (Wale Kehinde)
Because of Nigeria’s experience with the forward/attack position
Score Prediction: Nigeria 3 South Africa 1
