SUSPECT KILLED, COP WOUNDED AS KYALAMI MALL ON LOCKDOWN

JOHANNESBURG – At least one suspect has been shot dead and one policemen has been wounded in a shootout with suspected hijackers at Kyalami Corner in Midrand, north of Johannesburg, on Tuesday morning.

Paramedics says an officer has been airlifted to hospital.

According to reports from the scene, a police vehicle was hijacked earlier.

Police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini told a Johannesburg radio station that one officer was wounded and a suspect was shot dead.

The entire complex has been placed on lockdown and shoppers have been advised to avoid the area altogether.

Police have launched a manhunt for suspects and are still also searching for one officer.
