THE “3RD FORCE” AND THE IMPACT OF A PACT

THE “3RD FORCE” AND THE IMPACT OF A PACT

The quest for an Obama-esque presidential candidate is now effectively over. Neither red card, nor PACT could make it happen. Durotoye will not relinquish his “hard earned” mandate to Moghalu. Fact. That is the closest he will get to be President.

The next stage in this Nigeria Politics 101 is that social media fans of both camps (yes they are now fully camps) will begin to bad mouth one another and their aspirants. They will use subbing and direct abuse to split the micro-votes that their candidates were going to get. Not like all together Durotoye, Sowore, or Moghalu we’re going to get up to 500k votes anyway.

Small negotiation, small “my guy make I do this thing for us”, small “bros wait for your time”(in Sir Shina’s voice), they could not prevail. When you tell them that they need to learn the ropes of Nigerian politics, and maneuver it from a point of knowledge, they say your mouth dey smell.

Small brinkmanship with political neophytes has brought katakata. What will now happen when you need to horse trade with the establishment, with political powers and principalities who habit high places? You will storm out in anger throwing tantrums?

Don’t get me wrong, I am not mocking the political tyros, I am just stating my opinions which I believe are as close to reality as possible. Hopefully after this attempt, they will see the political sense in starting small, while thinking big.
