The Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in South Africa has received, with regret, the sad news of the killing of another Nigerian in the hands of the South African Police Offers.

The unfortunate incident occured at Hamburg, in Roodepoort, Johannesburg, South Africa, on 9 April 2018, at 12h00. An identified police officer from Krugersdorp flying squad reportedly shot Mr. ThankGod Okoro on the head and he died at the spot. Mr. Okoro hailed from Enugu State, Nigeria. The Consul General has been abreast of issues surrounding the urder and has since dispatched senior officers from the consulate to have firsthand information of the matter.

The Consulate General of Nigeria in South Africa condemns in strong terms this barbaric act and call on the South African relevant authorities to intervene and put an end to this savagery that has become an irritant in the existing relations between Nigeria and South Africa. Human life is sacred and should be protected at all times. We therefore, call for the apprehension and prosecution of the culprits. Your comment..this is very bad ,killing a man in the name of drugs whilst there was no drug /knife on the scene and this is getting out of hand. South african police have turned into wild animals and something must be done if they're tired with foreigners why can't they depot them back than killing someone's bread winner !this is unaceptable/ridiculous and very bad. # Boko Haram must give us a signal to thsese wild animals covering themselves in the name of Police
